A photograph depicts things as they are in real life, but a painting has the opportunity to capture the moment or heightened feelings of your special day. Furthermore a live painting by an exceptional artist is a great way to entertain guests and see the memory of the event unfold on your special day.

Not only do you get a keepsake that you can hold onto forever, but it's an experience for you and your guests to enjoy seeing a moment captured in real-time on paper. Children are also fascinated by the process.

If you have a pet or a family member or friend who has passed away, live wedding paintings provide a beautiful way to honour thier memory and include them in your special day.

I paint on “Arches” 100% cotton cold pressed paper 140lb using Daniel Smith artist grade professional paints. These materials are considered the gold standard and highest quality in watercolour painting. This gives the best texture, durability and colour pigment on the paper.

  • 42.0 x 59.4 cm (A2) - £999 (Perspex display with wooden frame display size is 59.4 x 84.1 cm)

with an additonal clear white boarder around the edge. There may be a moderate additional charge for travel mileage outside Greater London. The wedding package price includes:

Process

Contact me

Contact me via "Contacts" section at the bottom of the page to discuss your requirements

Questionnaire & Agreement

Complete my questionnaire about your event to assess logistics and expectations

Place Order

Make the purchase or place a 10% deposit (14 day cooling off period) to secure your booking

Live Painting Event

Arrive 2 hours before the event and paint for up to 7 hours entertaining guest

The process is very simple – here is how it works:

1. Contact me via "Contacts" below to see if your date is available and we can discuss your plans for your event. I also send you a full information pack. Please book early as I get booked up quickly.

2. My information pack will contain my agreement, FAQs and a questionnaire to get all your contact info, venue info, planner contact, times, etc. If content with the arrangements you can make a purchase or place a desposit with a 14 day cooling off period to secure the date.

3. Once payment is made I'll handle it from there! I'll be in contact with your planner, bridesmaid, organiser or venue manager to figure out the logistics of where I'll be located during the event so you stay stress-free when it comes to the date of your event.

4. On the day I'll arrive about 1-2 hours before the start of the event, ceremony or the reception (whichever moment you would like to be painted) to set up and get started on sketching the background and composition. I'll continue to sketch and paint while the event is occurring and afterwards I may or may not be moved to a different spot to continue throughout the reception so your guests can view and interact with me while they enjoy the remainder of the event.

5. My time is around 7 hours but I’m flexible in order to capture the right moment and finish the painting! I'll be taking photos and videos before and throughout the event to make sure I capture everything to reference when continuing the sketching/painting.

6. At an appropriate point at the event I will display the painting. You may either take home a completed painting in a frame or I may need some additional studio time so that the painting fully meets your expectations. The painting and frame will be posted securely to your home address.

7. Any travel expenses will be calucated on a mileage basis and agreed before the booking. These expenses will be moderate and in line with the cost of travel. I can travel thoughout the UK.

8. If you decide to cancel your event for any reason, I will retain your deposit or if paid in full, 10% of your payment. If I have to cancel before your event for any reason, you will be fully refunded. Rescheduling may be available if my calendar is open on the new date.

9. Please contact me so I can send you a full client information pack including my terms, questionnaire and referral money back scheme.

FAQs

1. How much does it costs to hire a live painter?

The actual scene of the painting comes in two sizes:

28.5 x 40.5 cm (A3) for £549 (glass frame display size is 38.3 x 50.6 cm)
42.0 x 59.4 cm (A2) - £999 (Perspex frame display size is 59.4 x 84.1cm)

with an additional clear white boarder around the edge. There may be a moderate additional charge for travel mileage outside Greater London usually 40p per mile. The price includes a full consultation, professional watercolour painting, frame with mount, up to to 7 hours of my time, live painting and interacting with guests and some addtional studio time if necessary. Only a 10% deposit is required to secure the booking.

2. Can I chose my scene?

Yes, you chose a scene of your choice for the day. Do you want a painting to focus just on the bride and the groom and venue? Or do you want more family members? The first kiss? Or even a member of the family or pet to may have passed away.

3. Do you travel?

Yes anywhere in the UK. I'm based in South London and may charge a moderate travel fee based on a fuel mileage rate of 30p per mile. I will always try to keep costs down and avoid an overnight stay if possible. I don't believe weddings should be unnecessarily expensive.

4. How far ahead can I book?

I would suggest to save your date sooner than later. I can hold your date for a period of time at your enquiry until you decide. You only need to provide a 10% deposit to secure your booking

5. What deposit do I need to pay?

You only need to provide a 10% deposit to secure your booking. The balance is due 4 weeks prior to your wedding. Contact me below if you would like to save your date

6. Are you insured?

Yes I have full public liability insurance upto £5 million pounds.

7. Some live wedding painters use canvas and acrylic painting, why do you paint in watercolour?

This is basically down to preference, but watercolours is my preferred medium and expertise because it is renowned for its light, bright, and translucent qualities. It is also the most difficult medium to master. The vibrant but soft nature of watercolours captivates the viewer’s eye in ways that are much different from, let’s say, the thick nature of oil or acrylic paints. It provides a much more natural and accurate depiction of the scene with an artistic feel. I also love the blend between colours and texture when used properly on the finished painting. Finally my paintings are all presented in a glass frame for A3 paintings or Perspex frame for A2 paintings with mount which will compliment any home environment.

8. When will I receive my painting?

I will aim to present your painting on the day or if necessary additional studio time may be necessary free of charge. The painting will be delivered to you securely using tracked delivery.

9. Can my guest watch you paint?

Absolutely that's the point. I make an effort to actively engage your guests. On some occasions guest even contribute their artistic touch to your painting. Don't fret, though. If they happen to place a colour in an unintended spot, I can lift off the paint or paint over it.

10. Does my painting come with a frame?

Yes my price includes a black, white, oak or rustic frame with white mount and glass display for A3 or Perspex for A2
